Children’s Day; Say Something When You See Something.

Children carry the hopes of our brighter tomorrow and the dreams of our happy future.
8 of 10 children daily are traumatized by physical, emotional and sexual abuses or by caregivers who neglected them, making child abuse as common as it is. Child abuse has many negative impact on child, and we all should put a stop to it.
Only few are bold and courageous enough to share there stories ’cause they are tired of dying in silence and according to experts, it’s reduce the pain they are going through. It’s also prevent other children from falling victim of such horrible incidents. Many are dying in silence and pains and horrible thought like commiting suicidal went through their mind.
Hence, we should note that every child deserve a safe setting, somewhere they can feel safe without suffering from abuse. If you report a child abuse case as often as it occurs, the act will be eradicated sooner than we thought. Matt Blunt said and I quote “Child Abuse and Neglect offends the basic values of our state”
Another Author named Kenny Guinn said ” I believe the best service to the child is the service closest to the child and the children who are victims of neglect, abuse or abandonment, must not also be a victims of bureaucracy.” This quotations indicate that every child surrounding us deserve our devoted attention, not our divided attention. Child abuse is not limited only to sexual abuse or harsement. It could be emotional as well. For this reason, do not neglect your child, no matter the circumstances. They need attention and love. Furthermore, when a parent love his/her child and any kids in our vicinity, it teaches them how to love. Loving a child is spreading love to the world……… We do what’s best for the child around us and not what’s convenient for us because they are the future and our hope.
Finally, please listen to your child today, don’t pressurize them, let the process happens naturally . Each child has a specific talents and skills, they will discover it sooner when you encourage them and not when you compare them with other kids. Don’t let them feel less worthy. Buttressing the above point with a quote by Heather McClane, when he said: “the only reason why abuse is alive today is because we as adults fail our children when we fail to listen to them.”
I still can’t imagine what would make an adults use violence against a child, and the worst the behavior is, the more unimaginable it seems. Whether the abuse is rooted in the perpetrator’s mental illness or inability to cope, the psychological result for each abused child is often the same; the deep emotional scars, feeling of worthlessness, anger, revenge and depression to mention but a few.
Many Children have rights like anyone else and should be free from exploitation and abuse.
Wishing children all over the world a very enjoyable children’s day.

3 Simple Ways to Stay Active While you’re Stuck at Home.

Angela Flatsoussis a certified personal trainer said maintaining an active lifestyle is an important part of combating illness. She said further that Physical activity can help lower stress and anxiety levels, boost your immune system, and keep off any unwanted pandemic pounds.

  1. Get outside and move
If you can manage it, get outside (your compound) and move in some way, whether that’s a more traditional type of exercise — like running, biking, or walking — or simply playing with your kids. Don’t think of it as an“exercise,” which tends to make it sound like a chore. Think of it in terms of “being active” or “physical activity”.
Jeanette Gustat, PhD, MPH, department of epidemiology, prevention research center at Tulane University School said outdoor exercise has many benefits during a time when we may be bored and anxious due to physical distancing.
Outdoor exercise encourages activity with more space, it allows us to have a more varied experience than being indoors all the time, and it can reduce stress.
If you already do activities like walking, running, or biking, then you can simply continue to do these. However, even if you don’t normally exercise, take note that it’s important to keep moving.
  2. Get Creative with Resistance Exercise
    When you don’t have access to your usual weights and machines, Flatsoussis suggests finding substitutes around your home to do resistance training. Flatsoussis suggests the following;
Squats are a great compound movement that will work your back, core, legs, and glutes.
    A) To replicate the traditional barbell squat;Using a broomstick while you perform squats; Simply place the broomstick on the upper part of the back and hold onto it with your hands.
    B) In lieu of box jumps, she suggests using your stairs; Start at your landing and jump up to the first stair. Step down and repeat. This exercise will work your legs and glutes as well as provide you with some cardio.
    C) Instead of dumbbells, try using soup cans for bent-over rows. Rows help strengthen the back and improve one’s posture, she said.
    D) In place of the deadlift; which helps strengthen your legs, back, and core — she suggests grabbing a pair of gallon milk or water jugs.
    E) Challenge your core and obliques by leaning back, with a flat back, and twisting your bag side to side.

Finally; You can also simply use your own body weight, according to Gustat. “Situps, pushups, pullups, squats — anything with resistance will work.”

3. Make a clean sweep or tackle your to-do list; While we might not think of cleaning or home maintenance as being exercise, Gustat said, “Any movement counts and has health benefits.”
This includes activities like mopping your floors or changing your bedsheet. Think of moving more and sitting less. “Strive to get at least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity every week. that’s 30 minutes, 5 days a week.”
According to Gustat; Moderate activity is any type of activity that gets your heart beating faster,
Even if you don’t work the full 150 minutes, Gustat said it still helps. Which means any amount of activity is beneficial.
Reflections
This time is not an excuse to neglect your body. Within only a few weeks your strength and muscle mass can diminish, making it that much harder to resume your normal routine after the pandemic.
Conclusion
Both our experts agreed: The best thing you can do while you’re stuck at home during the pandemic is simply to keep moving.
Physical activity will reduce your stress and anxiety, boost your immune system, and keep you strong and healthy.
Activity can be in the form of traditional exercise, if you have the equipment, but any type or amount of movement is going to be beneficial.

Exercises not only changes your body, it’s changes your attitude, mind and mood.

Keep Your Dream Alive

DON’T GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS!
People give up on their dreams too early in life. It’s a sad truth in life that the vast majority of people give up on their dreams.
Sometimes it happens early. A kid is told by his or her parents that whatever they’re aiming for is impossible to reach.
Sometimes it happens later. You get older, tired, and instead of trying to pivot once more, you decide to throw in the towel for good.
It’s sad when a dream dies. And more often than not, it dies far too soon.
If you don’t believe me, just ask those around you whether or not they’re creative–or what the last creative thing they’ve done was.
Most will say they’re not creative at all, am sorry to say am part of the most that believed they are not creative, many will actually try to convince you how not-creative they are, am so part of the many and the majority haven’t worked on something creative in years, am also part of the majority.
Why? Because creativity is what’s linked to dreams, to imagination, to exploration.
Which category do you belong;
A. the majority, the many or the most.
B. The creativity ones.
Did you know that getting and giving feedbacks is part of keeping dreams alive.
Do you know some people give up on their dreams because they don’t get feed backs and because they fail to ask for it. One positive feedback can reignite your fire and make your dream alive again. Likewise, one negative feedbacks can also shake your dreams and make you feel you aren’t doing anything right{ my darling sister, don’t feel that way} feedback are might to make you get better.
When you are sure of your dreams and you are doing it right or on the verge of doing it right ask for feedback and be strong enough to withstand negative feedbacks.{ Episode is coming on feedback}. After asking for it and you are still not getting it keep your dream alive and keep striving, someone, somewhere is actually watching you and learning from your dream(s).
KEEP THAT DREAM ALIVE.

DEPRESSION

As women, we have many life roles. Mother, wife, employee, friend, healer, caregiver, and the list goes on. The complexity of all of these roles can cause ups and downs throughout life. Some of these mood changes may be due to life events (e.g., getting in an argument with a friend) or may be due to hormones (e.g., pregnancy, menstrual cycle).

What is Depression?
Clinical depression is a serious and pervasive mood disorder. It causes feelings of sadness, hopelessness, helplessness, and worthlessness. Depression can be mild to moderate with symptoms of apathy, little appetite, difficulty sleeping, low self-esteem, and low-grade fatigue Or it can be more severe.

Types of Depression

  1. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)
  2. Perinatal Depression
  3. Perimenopausal Depression. This will be explained in my next post.

Symptoms of Depression

The following are the symptoms of depression but not limited to;

  1. Mood swings and feelings of tearfulness
  2. Panic attacks
  3. Feelings of tension
  4. Decreased energy, fatigue, feeling “slowed down”
  5. Thoughts of death or suicide, or suicide attempts
  6. Difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions. Etc

According to the National Institutes of Health, factors that increase the risk of depression in women include reproductive, genetic, or other biological factors; interpersonal factors; and certain psychological and personality characteristics. In addition, women juggling work with raising kids and women who are single parents suffer more stress that may trigger symptoms of depression. Other factors that could increase risk include:

  1. Family history of mood disorders
  2. History of mood disorders in early reproductive years
  3. Loss of a parent before age 10
  4. Loss of social support system or the threat of such a loss
  5. Ongoing psychological and social stress, such as loss of a job, relationship stress, separation or divorce
  6. Physical or sexual abuse as a child
  7. Use of certain medications etc
    Treatment Options
If you are a woman and suffering from depression, it is best to seek treatment right away to improve your quality of life. Your first course of action should be a visit to your doctor or mental health professional. Your doctor will ask you a series of questions and perform tests to rule out an underlying medical condition causing your depression or determine if certain medications might be to blame for your depressed mental state. Therapy has also been shown to be a very effective method of treatment if you are suffering from depression.
If you are uncertain whom to call for help with depression, consider checking out the following resources:
  1. Community mental health centers
  2. Employee assistance programs
  3. Family doctors
  4. Family service/social agencies
  5. Health maintenance organizations
  6. Hospital psychiatry departments and outpatient clinics etc
    Conclusion
Depression is not a sign of a person’s weakness or a character flaw. The truth is that most people who experience depression need treatment to get better. If you are a friend or family member of a woman with depression, you can offer emotional support, understanding, patience, and encouragement. But never dismiss her feelings. Encourage her to talk to her health care provider, and remind her that, with time and treatment, she can feel better.
In addition to medications and therapy, the self-help techniques below can help improve your mood if you are suffering from depression:
  1. Don’t keep your feelings bottled up – find a support group with people you trust.
  2. Stay engaged in social activities and social functions
  3. Exercise regularly
  4. Get enough sleep – 8 hours per night is ideal
  5. Meditate, try yoga, or practice other relaxation techniques.
If you or a loved one are suffering from depression, you are not alone. Seek help for your depressed mood to elevate your quality of life. Suicide is not an option, I repeat Suicide is never an option.

Your Thought! Negative Or Positive?

Your thoughts become what you are. What you think, you believe.
Your thoughts. All day, it’s just you and your thoughts. Do you sound like your best friend or the high school bully? Negative thinking is an easy pattern to fall into. It is also a harmful one. Your thoughts are your reactions to everything that goes on in your life. Treat them with extreme caution. Negative thoughts damage your happiness. Your positive thought does not mean you will immediately become a success in your chosen field but it gives you the zeal and encouragement not to give up. Everyone telling there success story today has 💯 percent of positive energy they wear on their shoulder anywhere they go. Don’t let negative vibes from people weight you down. Work on your growth, have a growth mindset and trust me, people will adjust at the long run.

RESCUE A CHILD, SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE!

A lot of girls experienced assault especially sexual assault when they were young. They are scared and shy to share there story to anyone due to lot of factors some of which are listed below; lack of trust, been wrongly judged or blamed, due to society they found themselves, due to legal system and it’s corrupt practices, family, mentality and threats. Experts says sharing such horrific stories can save others from falling victims and can also save victims from serious thoughts like suicide. RESCUE A CHILD, SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE.

Learn to support your fellow woman!!!

Oh woman, learn how to support your fellow woman and stand by her. Do not make the mistake of despising your fellow woman because of the other gender, it doesn’t worth it, they wouldn’t do such, rather they prefer to leave us hurt. It’s a way we have been created but woman, things can change, learn to stand for your self and the womanhood. Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an Ocean.
